Kia (Kia Motors Corporation), also known as Kia Automobiles (기아자동차 in Korean, Kia Motors Corporation in English), is a South Korean multinational automobile manufacturer.
Founded in 1944, Kia was originally called "Beijing Precision Industry". In 1952, it was renamed "Qia Industry". The word "Kia" means "originated in Asia" or "the rise of Asia". In 2000, Kia merged with Hyundai Motor to form Hyundai Kia Motor Group. In 2019, the sales volume of Kia brand was about 2.84 million units, up 0.3 percent from 2018, ranking the eighth in the world. Kia's biggest market in 2019 was the U.S., accounting for about 22 percent of its sales. In 2019, Kia's sales volume in China is about 280,000 units, accounting for about 10% of sales volume . Kia ranks 229 in the Fortune Global 500 in 2020.

Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd. is a Sino-foreign joint venture car manufacturing enterprise jointly established by Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co., Ltd., and Kia Automobiles Co., Ltd. of Korea with 25%, 25% and 50% equity structure, with registered capital of 70 million US dollars. The company covers a total area of 250,000 square meters, more than 1,000 employees, has built stamping, welding, painting, final assembly, testing and other advanced technology production lines, with an annual output of 50,000 economic vehicles production capacity.
